We’ve teamed up with the British Heart Foundation, who collect any mattresses.

On the odd occasion this isn’t possible due to location, returned mattresses are collected by a specialist mattress recycler.

We use natural latex in the Sleepbear mattress, the real deal. Be wary of other brands using synthetic alternatives, but claiming the same benefits.

Latex is a premium product and it doesn’t come cheap, but we settled for nothing less than the best when designing the Sleepbear mattress and pillow.

Temperature control: It does not retain heat, like a memory foam mattress or pillow does. It’s cool to the touch and is even perforated for additional airflow. You’ll stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Bounce: It has a very high natural elasticity which gives a unique feel like no other foam. It gives the mattress it’s springy feel and special bounce. It responds fast which means that moving during the night is effortless.

Comfort: It works in a special way that offers unrivalled weight distribution. The more pressure you apply, the more it pushes back – it’s basically like sleeping on a cloud,

Breathable: It has an open cell structure that’s full of millions of tiny air bubbles, for the ultimate in breathability and moisture control.

Durable: It’s an incredibly resilient material that lasts up to 3x longer than a conventional mattress. We’ve tested our mattress by simulating 10 years of use, and it only dipped by 1.5mm (the thickness of a penny).

Healthy: It’s hypoallergenic as it naturally makes for a hostile environment for dust mites to exist, it’s also resistant to mould.

Simple answer, the Sleepbear mattress features six luxurious and hygienic layers for your best restorative sleep. Ever.

Our top layer of Polartex® is super-anti-allergenic and provides 89% proven protection from bed allergens. And it incorporates Purotex® – an almost magical biotechnology in the form of probiotic flora that actively consume bed allergens such as dust mite droppings and dog and cat dander. It also reduces allergens found in dog hair and dander by 66.7% and effectively reduces 92.8% of cat allergens.

The top layer of Natural Latex Foam is a premium product that costs more than the synthetic alternatives that other brands use instead. We think our unique combination of latex and Beartex® foam makes the best mattress you’ll ever buy.

Why does latex cost more? It’s main component is the natural sap of the rubber tree, which is sustainably harvested before it begins the long process to become the latex used in our mattress. The result, what we and many others believe is the best sleep surface around, it’s natural qualities are unrivalled by any other alternatives.

That’s not all, here at Sleepbear we want to give something back. Each year, a percentage of the proceeds from our Sleepbear mattress sales will go directly to Polar Bears International to help them support the conservation of polar bears. Click here to read more.

We use Dunlop latex in our Sleepbear mattress and Talalay latex in our pillows.

This is because Dunlop latex is denser than Talalay, which makes it a bit firmer and much better suited to our mattress.

Talalay latex is softer and is much better suited to our pillows, to give you that weightless, sleep on a cloud feeling.

The Sleepbear mattress is made up of six layers:

The cover: Our top layer of Polartex® stretch knit fabric is designed to allow the specific foam layers beneath to conform to the natural contours of your body for maximum support and restorative sleep. It’s perfect for eczema, rhinitis and asthma sufferers, and those with cat and dog allergies. (And of course, if sleep hygiene matters to you.)

Airflow Core Protection:The thin yet highly breathable layer that protects and isolates the core mattress components from exposure during washing of the Polartex® top layer.

Top layer of natural latex (4cm deep): the real deal. This gives bounce, so you don’t get that ‘stuck in a rut’ feeling associated with traditional memory foam mattresses . The latex is also perforated, which along with it’s natural cooling properties, ensures you don’t over-heat as you sleep.

Mid layer of Beartex® Foam (9cm):Our Beartex® foam layer is as supportive as memory foam, but without the drawbacks. For example: memory foam is temperature sensitive. In cold weather your mattress becomes a brick, but in warm weather it’s too soft. Memory foam is also notorious for causing overheating and sweating at night. Beartex® is 47% cooler than memory foam. This is essential for your sleep comfort and hygiene, and another weapon in the fight to eliminate a damp and harmful allergen environment.

Base layer of high density foam (12cm): this is what gives your mattress support and durability – the foundation to the Sleepbear mattress.

Anti-slip base fabric: because there are few things more annoying than a bed that slides around with the slightest movement during the night, we added a non-slip breathable base. The Anti-slip base incorporates four handles for ease of turning when you need to rotate or move your Sleepbear.

We haven’t conducted our own medical tests to establish this, but we do know the Sleepbear mattress supports sleepers very effectively for a healthy nights sleep. You can read our customer reviews here.

Once opened, your Sleepbear will recover fast – within minutes. We do recommend leaving your new mattress to air for several hours after opening though, to allow any ‘new’ smell to dissipate.

Sleepbear is gently compressed and then rolled, packed into a portable box which is the full width of the mattress you’ve ordered.

And we’re going to let you into a secret… we don’t fold the Sleepbear before it’s rolled like others do. Folding and then rolling the mattress like most of the other brands do, is like folding your favourite wall poster before you roll it – it’s never going to recover 100% afterwards.

Box dimensions:

Single: 40 x 40 x 100cm

Double, EU Double, King: 40 x 40 x 160cm

EU King, Super King: 40 x 40 x 190cm

The Sleepbear mattress weighs from 21kg’s for a Single, up to 42kg’s for a Super King.

The Sleepbear will fit most standard UK sheet sizes, but if you’re unsure – get the deep fitted variety.

The Sleepbear mattress is 25cm (or 10 inches) deep – made up of 4cm Natural Latex, 9cm Beartex® foam, 12cm support foam.

Why? we believe this is the perfect depth.

Sleepbear has been dynamic fatigue tested to simulate 10 years of use, and is suitable for sleepers up to 18 stone (114kg) per person.

The Sleepbear mattress and pillows are proudly made in Britain.

We are proud to offer a 10 Year guarantee on our mattress as it meets the highest standards for domestic use. You can read our full guarantee here

The Sleepbear mattress works perfectly with all bed bases: divan, rigid slats, sprung slats and electic adjustable beds*.

To get the intended feel from your Sleepbear mattress, we tend to recommend a rigid bed base over the sprung variety. This is simply because a sprung base will naturally make the mattress feel softer, however this is down to personal preference of course!

*on adjustable beds we recommend leaving your Sleepbear flat when not in use.

Absolutely. The Polartex® cover with its secret weapon of Purotex® probiotic biotechnology provides 89% proven protection from bed allergens and actively consumes dust-mites, bacteria and mould spores.

The foams we use create a repellent environment for dust-mites and are resistant to fungal moulds.

The Sleepbear mattress in non-turn, so you won’t have to worry about this. We do suggest however, that you rotate your Sleepbear length-ways every 3 months, to extend its lifetime. The built-in handles make this easy.
